To the victor goes the spoiled
Back in Kansas City. The headline worth cheering about is that Fountain City pulled off what the brass band news site 4barsrest.com called "the double hat trick", referring to the group's three years of back-to-back-to-back wins at both major American contests, NABBA and the U.S. Open.
Yet I have a personal shame...

This first article HERE is a breakdown of the history of the band. Seeing as how I'm just now coming up on my second anniversary as a member (some time in December, by my account), a lot of this was news to me.

Though I hooped and hollered with the best last night at the awards banquet, I sat subdued and grinding my teeth tonight. It appears that a folder of music under my watch has gone missing. This is infuriating and unacceptable behavior -- I can't believe that such a thing would happen. There's a chance it got picked up by other members, but there's also a chance that it will never see the appropriate light again.
It makes me so frustrated with myself. Anything I can think of to explain the lapse sounds whiny. So I've resolved not to do that, but instead try and remedy the problem as best I can. I've already placed messages to the two likeliest hiding places, so we'll see if one is able to overnight it to me. Assuming it's lost at all.
In the meantime, I've made arrangements to borrow the scores to handcopy the missing 3 or four pieces. Thank heavens I didn't lose the entire folder containing the other 21 parts!
So I managed to spoil the triumph with childish carelessness. Hopefully someone will safety-pin my passport to my shirt so I can get through customs.

ohhh - do you think that some devious brass band player is twarting your UK concerts? All the drama and intrigue - you could make a movie about it. But you, as the hero, will triump over their poorly laid plans. Tally ho!
